ROTARY CLUB UTRECHT INTERNATIONAL

Onze club is op 15 februari 2005 officieel opgericht. Wij zijn een internationale club met Engels als voertaal. Dat internationale aspect brengen wij tot uitdrukking in ons motto “Sharing a cross cultural experience”. Onze wekelijkse bijeenkomsten vinden plaats op dinsdagavond vanaf 18.30 uur.

Wij streven ernaar ons ledenbestand te laten bestaan uit 50 % vrouwen en minder dan 50 % Nederlandse leden. Onze leden zijn jong: de helft van de leden is onder de 40 jaar.

Ons eerste project, met de titel “Ik zie, ik zie wat jij niet ziet: A non-Dutch view on Dutch habits”, was een tentoonstelling in het Utrechtse Stadhuis. De tentoonstelling vond plaats van 2 juli tot 24 augustus 2004.

Op dat moment waren wij als club nog niet gechartered. Daarom zijn wij toen op www.ikzie.org een eigen website begonnen om onze tentoonstelling bekend te maken. Deze website gebruiken wij nog steeds. Op die site kunt u veel meer informatie over onze club vinden.

Our club was officially started on 15^th February 2005. We are an international club, with English as a working language. We express that in our motto “Sharing a cross cultural experience”. We have weekly meetings on Tuesday evening at 6.30 pm.

We maintain a membership of which about half are women, and Dutch members form less than half the membership. Our membership is young with half the members under 40.

Our first project was an exhibition in the Utrecht Town Hall called “Ik zie, ik zie wat jij niet ziet: A non-Dutch view on Dutch habits”. The exhibition lasted from 2^nd July to 24^th August 2004.

We were not chartered then, so we opened our own website to advertise the exhibition, www.ikzie.org. We still use this website and you can find much more information about our club there.
