Introduction

The Rotary Club of Newent & District [The Club] wishes to find another Rotary Club with which to set up a Twinning arrangement. It is hoped that this profile will be widely distributed and made available to potential Twinning Partner Clubs [Partner Clubs]. The link below will take you to our club site. http://www.ribi.org/clubs/homepage.asp?ClubID=614

This profile is written specifically with the intention of giving a prospective Partner Club enough information about The Club for the Partner members to decide whether or not to enter into discussions on a Twinning Arrangement.

Twinning Objectives

The Club sees Twinning as an activity essentially geared to enhancing fellowship and cultural exchange between the two clubs in their respective geographic areas. The Club would also be interested in developing joint support in charitable projects which might also benefit from Matching Grants from Rotary Foundation.

Previous Twinning Experience

The Club has been twinned previously with a club in France. This has now come to an end at the wish of the French who had lost enthusiasm for the arrangement. There are perhaps some lessons to be learned from this experience. The first being that it is important that there are enough members in both clubs that are competent in a common language so that the benefit of fellowship can be spread as widely as possible between the membership The second is that the cost of entertaining the visiting club should be kept under control.
