How to make your ID and Profile in Yahoo

U bevindt zich hier:

Dear exchange students.

To make contact between you easierwe have set up a so called YAHOO-group. This is to give you the possibility to send emails and other information to participants in the exchange program in The Netherlands.

However, to use the facility requires that you fill in your YAHOO-ID. Only a very few of you have done this by now. You also have to fill in a Profile.

Why and what can you do afterwards?

When you want to send an email to a specific exchange student but you do not know the email adres it will be very hard to decode that nzfeli@hotmail.com belongs to Felicia Brunsting. But Felicia has filled in her ID and Profile together with a photograph so that in stead of guessing you are sure that you will send the mail to the right person in the group. You can also read the information in the “Files” and you can see the pictures and even upload your pictures. You have a free website hosting facility. There is a drawback: all of a sudden advertisements come up, and you have to click on “continue” to proceed.

Here follows a step by step guide to make your YAHOO-ID. If you remember that you made an Id you may skip this part and proceed to Fill in your Profile.

1. Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/youthexchange_Rotary_nl/

2. click on “register” (right upper corner)

3. Fill in the data as requested. Fill in the email adres you use now( where you received this mail)

Do not forget to wright down your ID and your password. You need them everytime you sign in.

4. Clear the choice box “ Send me special offers etc”

5. Go to the bottom of the page and click “submit”

Congratulations, you passed the first gate!

From now on you will have the possibility to send mails to all members:

Go to the site, log in and click “post” fill in and choose send. (do not use this possibility unless you really want to tell the whole group) or to individual members.

At the left side of the screen is the menu where you can chose to see all the messages, the files with information for all or some of you, photographs uploaded by members.

You can “edit your membership” by e.g. indicating that you want to have your emails only once a day. Choose “daily digest”

I hope this will be helpful to you.

Have a good year

Jack
