WASH & Learn Financieel Eindrapport

Financial Report

The support of the Rotary in the WASH and Learn programme has been essential for the programme to reach its targets and results. This has been appreciated by Simavi, the local partners in the programme, but especially by the pupils, teachers and community members in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania that have been reached by the programme. This chapter contains the financial report of 2018, but also a complete overview of the income and expenses concerning the Rotary contribution for the full programme.

In table 13 an overview of the Rotary income for the WASH and Learn programme can be found, including an overview of how the contribution has been divided over the three countries. In the end, all countries received 200.236 Euro from the Rotary contributing including 80% contribution of Aqua for All. In 2016 and 2017 part of this has been reported for Uganda and Kenya. In 2016, 161.692 Euro has been reported on for Uganda (table 14). In this financial report, 38.544 Euro has been added for Uganda to reach the 200.236 Euro per country (table 16). In 2017, 162.192 Euro has been reported for the Kenya (table 14). In this financial report, 38.044 has been added for Kenya to reach 200.236 Euro per country (table 17). Furthermore, a detailed report for Tanzania has been added for 2018 (table 15).

Tanzania - 2018

Drinking Water

UFUNDIKO drilled a borehole in Ngutoto in 2017. The 2018 budget was used for construction of the elevated storage tank and domestic points. TDFT constructed 5 medium depth wells in 5 Primary Schools.

UFUNDIKO constructed 2 gender sensitive latrine blocks in Wangazi Primary School. TDFT constructed 2 gender sensitive latrine blocks per school in the 5 selected schools.

Hygiene education

UFUNDIKO and TDFT have established and trained School Health Clubs in all the 6 schools.

Trainings have been done on Menstrual Hygiene Management, including how to make re-usable menstrual pads in the 6 schools.

Promotion materials have been developed to explain the importance of hygiene and handwashing (e.g. drawings on the latrine facilities).

Support of Simavi to the partners, especially concerning designs and construction of the WASH facilities in schools and the communities, including costs of a field visit. Furthermore, Simavi supported the partners on the application of sustainability tools.
