Scholarship funding

The Rotary Foundation offers scholarship funding through the Rotary Foundation Global Grant program. The Global Grant provide scholarships to fund graduate-level coursework or research or its equivalent for a term of one to four academics years.

Awards

The minimum award amount from the World Fund for a global grant, regardless of activity type is $ 15,000 which results in a minimum total financing of $30,000.

Eligibility Guidelines

Activities:

Activities under the global grants should align with Rotary’s six areas of focus:

1.

Peace and conflict resolution/prevention

2.

Disease prevention and treatment

3.

Water and sanitation

4.

Maternal and child health

5.

Basic education and literacy

6.

Economic and community development

·

Activities should be sustainable and measurable (how will a scholar’s studies support one or more area’s of focus?)

·

Activities should stem from real community needs

Procedure

·

Global grants should be sponsored by at least one Rotary club or district in the country of origin and/or where the grant project will take place (primary host sponsor)

·

Grant should be supported by at least one Rotary club in the host country/area

(primary international sponsor)

·

Applicants must show proof of university admission to a (post-)graduate program or research project

In practice this means than an applicant– after obtaining admission to the higher education institution – needs to contact a Rotary club at the home to obtain sponsorship and find a Rotary club in the host country who will support the application.

Please note that the request for an application for a scholarships has to come from a sponsoring club that has liaised with a RC in the host country where the student intends to study. The clubs involved must be qualified to do so. Please refer to the Global Grant Scholarship supplement for more information.
