2009 Dutch (NL1) Summer Tour
Organized by the R.C. and R.C. Buinen -Hondsrug en Horst-Sevenum-Maasdorpen
Period:From July 18th ‐ 1st August 2009.
Age: 17 - 19 year; so at arrival in Holland not younger than 17 and
not older than 19
Conditions: able to swim and bike
Group size: Max 16 participants
A combination of sight seeing, nature, outdoor activities and ‐ of course socializing‐
Program:
First week:
Between the cities of Groningen and Emmen, you will find “The Hondsrug”, a 60 km ridge of sand originate from the ice age. This area reveals numerous historic places of interest. A little eastward lays the border of the two provinces Drenthe and Groningen, surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. “The real country side”, as far has The Netherlands has one. In this wonderful scenery, Rotary club “Buinen Hondsrug” has its seat and we kindly invite you to an inspirational, active and social program.
Program
During one week we would like to show you the best of Buinen‐Hondsrug. It means for example:
Hiking or cycling through fields and forests, experiencing water in all its aspects and visiting some special highlights.
The student city of Groningen is nearby and needs to be experienced at least one night. The cosy atmosphere on terraces and in the pubs is to be remembered forever. Also in our program is time for each other; time to get to know each other and to exchange ideas, different tastes and habits.
Second week:

RC Horst-Sevenum-Maasdorpen will be your host.
The villages of Horst and Sevenum as well as the other Maasdorpen (villages near the river Meuse) are located in the northern part of the Province of Limburg. This province is in the south-east of the Netherlands bordering on Germany. Maastricht, the capital of this province is well known from the treaty of Maastricht..
The region of our Rotary club is well known for its agro industrial activities, tourism, and has also quite a number of national reserve parks.

In the programme we plan to have a visit to a City in the South of Holland and a variety of outdoor activities and cultural topics.
Being together with the host families, with the group and with young people out of our region will be possible during evening sessions as BBQ, swimming and other social events.
Accommodation
The members of our Rotary club welcome you as guests in their private homes. Being a part of a local family is the best way to get to know the real culture of a country. You will be treated as a family member and get all the hospitality privileges that come with it.
Transport - if you travel:
By air -arrival at and departure from Amsterdam/Schiphol Airport ;
By train – arrival and departure at Amsterdam or Utrecht Central Station
By bus – arrival and departure at Amsterdam or Utrecht Central station
or Rotarians will meet you where you will arrive and bring you from where you will depart
