Rotary Club International Amstelveen
Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 18:00 to 20:00 at various locations in our city.
Once every 2 weeks, we meet to share friendship and a drink or a good meal, where we invite speakers on various subjects to broaden our horizon.
We may also use these meetings to share our mutual Rotary values for more Club related issues: Discussing club matters or organizing our fundraising projects. We may also have an interesting presentation from one of our own members.
Once every trimester, we have “fire place meetings” in smaller groups of members together, to get to know each other even better and above all, share our fellowship and friendship.
Once a year in September, we make a biking tour together to share fun and discover more of the surroundings of our city. We raise funds, by doing so, to sponsor our “youth” activities. The past few years, we hosted long-term Exchange students from Canada, Japan, Brasil and Peru. And we sponsored Dutch students for a long-term Exchange year in USA, Taiwan, Colombia and Italy. A very enriching experience for all our members and the youngsters involved.
At Christmas time we love to share a good dinner, together with our partners, on one location or as a “walking dinner”, where we also share some music and songs together, just for fun!
Our yearly Beach volley tournament takes place in April, where we share a lot of fun and sport with different teams from sponsoring companies, to raise funds for a project, chosen by our club members.
These past few years we thus raised funds to sponsor:
*local music classes for primary school pupils in our own city,
*solar panels for a maternity ward in Cameroun (District Grant project),
*Shelter box,
*the Black Jaguar Foundation,
are just a few of them.
Our Club wants to contribute actively to daily and local life in our own Community. Therefore, we choose small, local projects that help people in our city, small school equipment, organizing concert visits for elderly people, bowling parties, for special persons etc..
Within Rotary we apply professional diversity within our Clubs: We try to unite people from as many different professions as possible inside our Clubs, in order to enlighten each other, and achieve greater strength by joining various professional skills to reach our goals.
