Invitation Side Event January 15 2020

To the members of Rotary International and friends

Dear Rotarian and friend,

We hereby invite you to participate in the online meeting on January 15, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the theme Bold Action on Water and Climate Adaptation, under the motto of Climate Adaptation and Community Engagement.

This meeting is a joint initiative of Rotary, the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Water for Life. We join forces for more impact: Rotary for fundraising and use of network and knowledge of local Rotarians, IHE aiming at the development of future water leaders and use of network and knowledge of local alumni, Water for Life for the implementation of sustainable water projects together with local water companies and local communities. This event is officially accredited as a Side Event of the Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) 2021 hosted by the Netherlands www.cas2021.com, that will see the launch of. This is an international summit, hosted by the Netherlands, to arrive at a comprehensive Adaptation Action Agenda to make our world more resilient to the effects of climate change.

The aim of the online meeting is to inspire Rotarians in the Netherlands to continue to commit to clean water and sanitation for everyone in the world, while consciously choosing to focus on making the most vulnerable people more resilient to the negative consequences of climate change on water safety and water security. The projects discussed offer a concrete action perspective for every Rotary club in the Netherlands. We want to encourage you and your club as a People of Action.

Similar to the Dutch TV show “De Wereld Draait Door”, the guests will share their thoughts and advice in a lively debate of an hour. The guests are Holger Knaack - President Rotary International 2020-2021, Henk Ovink - Special Envoy for International Water Affairs at Kingdom of the Netherlands, Eddy Moors - Rector of IHE Delft, Marco Schouten - CEO at VEI and Director at Foundation Water for Life and Hans Gehrels - Strategic Advisor on water and climate resilience and member of the Organizing Committee of the Bold Action on Water and Climate Adaptation Event.
