“Polio anywhere, is a threat to children everywhere.”


Polio kan in de komende jaren worden verdreven, maar zolang de ziekte nog niet weg is, blijft het risico op hernieuwde verspreiding bestaan. Bashar Asfour, een Rotarian uit Jordanië, kent dit risico persoonlijk. Hij heeft polio gehad en wil met een reis van 8500 km door Europa aandacht vragen voor polio en natuurlijk ook geld bijeenbrengen voor de strijd tegen polio.

Het is heel bijzonder dat hij tijdens deze reis door Europa ook Groningen aandoet. Op maandag 4 september zal hij te gast zijn bij RC Groningen-West en een presentatie geven over zijn leven met polio.


Hiermee benadrukt hij het belang om door te gaan met al onze activiteiten die ertoe moeten leiden dat polio uit de wereld verdwijnt.

Het is mogelijk om deel te nemen aan het buffet. Ook kunt u om 19.15 uur komen voor de presentatie. De kosten voor het buffet zijn € 19,00 en kunnen na afloop digitaal worden afgerekend. Consumpties zijn voor eigen rekening.
